This assertion was particularly highlighted by Mathew Sigel, VanEck\u2019s Head of Digital Assets Research, in a recent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/matthew_sigel\/status\/1914131903570919558\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">note.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>U.S dollar sell-off pumps BTC<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Galaxy\u2019s Head of Research, Alex Thorn, and Bitwise\u2019s Andre Dragosch shared a similar view. In fact, Dragosch <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Andre_Dragosch\/status\/1914186734918656128\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">added<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the US Dollar Index (DXY) hit its lowest level since 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Looks like Bitcoin is pumping on continued Dollar weakness. Ergo, the DXY weakening (from $100 to $97), driven by President Donald Trump&#8217;s threat to fire Fed chair Jerome Powell, allowed the crypto to pump.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amberdata\u2019s Greg Madini added that Trump\u2019s moves were a &#8220;threat to Fed independence&#8221; and Powell&#8217;s replacement would be inflationary. Magadini <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/amberdataderivatives.substack.com\/p\/crypto-options-analytics-april-20th\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">added<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that this would push gold and BTC higher.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Next week, we have the Fed Beige Book release and multiple Fed governors speaking throughout the week. Any threats against the Fed\u2019s independence could be a catalyst for Gold and BTC to head higher.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here, it&#8217;s worth pointing out that gold hit another all-time high (ATH) on Monday, marking the first positive BTC correlation after decoupling for the past few weeks. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This meant investors fled to gold and BTC as \u2018safe assets\u2019 amid tariff uncertainty. Most traders and analysts acknowledged the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/bitcoin-stalls-between-82k-86k-range-ruin-or-rebound-ahead\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BTC breakout<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> above $87k.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, BTC\u2019s pump was driven by low spot volume and it will need another confirmation during the U.S market&#8217;s opening. Pseudonymous analyst StockMoney Lizards <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StockmoneyL\/status\/1914223816760295804\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">warned<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNice breakout, but it&#8217;s on low volume. Will definitely need confirmation.
