Meanwhile, newer models continue to perform.<\/p>\n<p>According to Braiins, rigs like the Antminer S21 Hyd still deliver over $4.50 in daily earnings, offering greater margin protection under current hashprice conditions. But the difficulty rise complicates matters.<\/p>\n<h2>Difficulty climbs, but timing betrays the miners<\/h2>\n<p>Bitcoin\u2019s protocol recalibrates difficulty every 2,016 blocks. The latest increase reflects past network activity, not the current slowdown.<\/p>\n<p>This timing gap has left miners facing rising difficulty just as hashrate falls.<\/p>\n<p>Will Baxter, EVP at Braiins, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/willbaxter88\/status\/1889016466248196394\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed<\/a> that difficulty recently rose 5.6%, driving hashprice down to $0.054\/TH\/day.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_477656\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-477656\" style=\"width: 559px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-24-163746.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-477656 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-24-163746.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"559\" height=\"783\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-24-163746.png 559w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-24-163746-214x300.png 214w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 559px) 100vw, 559px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-477656\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: X<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He noted that public miners remain insulated by newer hardware and treasury holdings, while smaller miners still using S19s are \u201cbarely surviving.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe longer we chop sideways at these price levels, the more hashrate we can expect to see come offline.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Baxter estimated ~50 EH\/s of small and medium-sized mining capacity could shut down this year.<\/p>\n<p>Still, he expects hashrate growth in 2025 as \u201cbig box miners\u201d continue expanding.<\/p>\n<h2>Relief on the horizon?<\/h2>\n<p>The next adjustment, projected for the 7th of April, may drop difficulty by 4.3% to 108.86 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>That forecast aligns with the current 10.45-minute average block time, which exceeds the target and signals a downward recalibration.<\/p>\n<p>Still, miners remain divided.<\/p>\n<p>Institutional players with modern rigs and cheap power continue operating.
