{"id":471173,"date":"2025-03-01T03:30:43","date_gmt":"2025-02-28T22:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=471173"},"modified":"2025-02-28T18:49:25","modified_gmt":"2025-02-28T13:19:25","slug":"biden-era-sec-told-defi-founders-to-never-work-in-crypto-again-crypto-vc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/biden-era-sec-told-defi-founders-to-never-work-in-crypto-again-crypto-vc\/","title":{"rendered":"Biden-era SEC told DeFi founders to never work in crypto again &#8211; Crypto VC"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Biden regime reportedly banned DeFi founders from working in crypto again.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A crypto VC urged the U.S. Congress to call the victims to testify.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Biden-era Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) allegedly instructed several DeFi founders to never work in crypto again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This grim angle was never covered during <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/trumps-cryptocurrency-policy-sparks-hope-debanked-crypto-firms-fight-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">crypto debanking<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or \u2018Operation ChokePoint 2.0,\u2019 because founders were forced to sign an NDC [non-disparagement clause]. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joey Krug, crypto VC partner at Founders Fund, revealed this during the ETH Denver conference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZCO53GmLmwk?si=9G-9cwPX1M2YHC7_&amp;t=554\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe government went to DeFi founders and told them: you have to do a settlement with us, and in many cases sign a thing that said you\u2019ll never work in crypto again.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Krug added that the founders signed a non-disparagement clause that only allowed them to discuss the issue with Congress.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>SEC&#8217;s crypto crackdown: Crypto debanking and more<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those unfamiliar, crypto debanking, known as \u2018Operation ChokePoint 2.0,\u2019 restricted crypto firms from accessing banking services during Biden&#8217;s reign.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Congress is currently probing the extent of the debunking. But the media never reported on firms outrightly banned from the sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Krug added that authorities threatened the founders with jail sentences, despite none of them breaking the law, without reference to the Department of Justice (DoJ).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThese agencies [CFTC, SEC] would go to founders and tell them if they disagree with their terms, they would go to jail.
