{"id":438796,"date":"2024-11-01T17:30:32","date_gmt":"2024-11-01T12:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=438796"},"modified":"2024-11-01T15:08:14","modified_gmt":"2024-11-01T09:38:14","slug":"canary-capital-files-for-new-battle-tested-solana-etf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/canary-capital-files-for-new-battle-tested-solana-etf\/","title":{"rendered":"Canary Capital files for new &#8216;battle-tested&#8217; Solana ETF"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canary files for a Solana ETF.<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SOL\u2019s price mirrored BTC\u2019s decline below $70K.<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canary Capital has submitted an S-1 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/2041869\/000199937124014193\/solana-s1_103024.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">filing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a spot <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/solana-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Solana [SOL] <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">exchange-traded fund (ETF). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per the form, the ETF\u2019s Net Asset Value (NAV) would be calculated based on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) CF Solana-Dollar Reference Rate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This latest move comes on the heels of the asset manager\u2019s recent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/litecoin-etf-next-canary-capital-makes-a-move-ltc-surges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">applications<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for spot <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/xrp-ripple-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ripple [XRP]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/litecoin-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Litecoin [LTC]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ETFs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although Canary has no live ETFs yet, its three recent filings underscore an ambitious move into the crypto investment space.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Canary\u2019s support for Solana<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the news, James Seyffart, ETF analyst at Bloomberg, highlighted Canary\u2019s ambitions for a SOL ETF in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JSeyff\/status\/1851736435960787188\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">post<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on X (formerly Twitter).\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reflecting on Solana\u2019s strong standing within the blockchain ecosystem, Canary stated:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Despite the hyper-competitive L1 and EVM landscape, Solana has emerged as a battle-tested frontrunner for decentralized applications.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The statement also emphasized Solana\u2019s strong DeFi ecosystem, citing sustained metrics like daily transactions, active addresses, and new addresses, all within a low-fee structure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, the firm expressed optimism that the ongoing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/susd-hits-10m-deposits-as-solana-overtakes-ethereum-details-inside\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">growth<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in stablecoin deployment would further solidify Solana\u2019s lead over its competitors.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Solana\u2019s ETF filings<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canary\u2019s filing marks the latest attempt to introduce a Solana ETF in the U.S., though it isn\u2019t the first.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this year, asset management firms VanEck and 21Shares filed for spot SOL ETFs, submitting their S-1 applications in June.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Worth noting, that outside of the U.S., <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/brazil-approves-solana-etf-could-this-be-the-breakthrough-sol-needs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brazil<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been the first country to approve SOL ETFs in August.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>SOL\u2019s market performance<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the filing, things weren\u2019t looking so good on the price front. At press time, they stood at 53.46 and 0.15, respectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This downtrend has put SOL at risk of testing the $160 support level. If breached, the decline could deepen. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, if the 100-day (yellow) EMA is lost to sellers, the trend would decisively tilt in bearish favor.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>The potential upside for SOL ETFs<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, all is not bad for SOL in the crypto sphere. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the 14th of October, AMBCrypto <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/grayscale-files-multi-crypto-etf-to-include-bitcoin-ethereum-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Grayscale applied to convert its Digital Large Cap Fund (GDLC) into a multi-crypto ETF, which included Solana among other assets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the 29th of October, the SEC officially acknowledged Grayscale\u2019s application. This marks a significant step toward launching the first multi-asset crypto ETF in the U.S. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A decision on the application is expected within 45 to 90 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the ETF race continues, Canary Capital\u2019s recent filing underscores the increasing demand for Solana-based investment vehicles. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, will this momentum translate into regulatory approval?
