{"id":438486,"date":"2024-10-31T21:30:22","date_gmt":"2024-10-31T16:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=438486"},"modified":"2024-10-31T14:24:30","modified_gmt":"2024-10-31T08:54:30","slug":"assessing-arbitrums-mixed-signals-defi-growth-vs-bearish-price-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/assessing-arbitrums-mixed-signals-defi-growth-vs-bearish-price-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Assessing Arbitrum&#8217;s mixed signals: DeFi growth VS bearish price action"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arbitrum\u2019s DeFi TVL has increased steadily and recently reached a one-month high of $2.45 billion.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite a rise in TVL and open interest, bearish signals around ARB continue to dampen the market sentiment.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/predictions\/arbitrum-price-prediction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Arbitrum [ARB]<\/a> has been stuck in a bearish trend, as its price has dropped by 11% in the last month. However, the downtrend is showing signs of weakness as in just four days, ARB has bounced from $0.49 to $0.56.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ARB had lost some of these gains at press time and traded at $0.551.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On-chain data suggests that ARB is well-positioned to make a rebound and possibly reclaim its monthly highs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Rising DeFi TVL could fuel ARB rally\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arbitrum was recently flipped by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/base-crypto-sets-new-records-in-stablecoin-transactions-daily-activity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Base<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in terms of Total Value Locked (TVL) and currently ranks as the second-largest layer 2 network by this metric.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/defillama.com\/chain\/Arbitrum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DeFiLlama<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> shows that decentralized finance (DeFi) activity on the network is rising again. At press time, Arbitrum\u2019s DeFi TVL stood at $2.456 billion, its highest level in one month.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_438496\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-438496\" style=\"width: 1534px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARB-TVL.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-438496 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARB-TVL.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1534\" height=\"529\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARB-TVL.png 1534w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARB-TVL-300x103.png 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARB-TVL-1024x353.png 1024w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARB-TVL-768x265.png 768w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARB-TVL-1200x414.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1534px) 100vw, 1534px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-438496\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: DeFiLlama<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Besides the rising TVL, ARB volumes on centralized and decentralized exchanges have soared to the highest level since August.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rising TVL and spike in volumes point towards growing interest in the DeFi applications created on the layer 2 network. This could in turn support ARB\u2019s price recovery.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Arbitrum\u2019s open interest surges\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is also a surge in speculative activity surrounding Arbitrum. Moreover, Arbitrum\u2019s funding rates have been predominantly positive since September reinforcing the bullish thesis.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Is ARB poised for a breakout?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arbitrum\u2019s four-hour chart shows that the short-term momentum has flipped bullish. The Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) indicator has a positive value of 0.07, pointing towards higher buying pressure than selling pressure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Awesome Oscillator also shows that bulls are taking control of ARB\u2019s price action, with the AO bars flipping positive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the movement of these indicators also calls for caution. The CMF is tipping south suggesting that the buying pressure is waning. This ratio has dropped to 0.75, with 57% of traders opening short positions.
