{"id":418580,"date":"2024-08-28T14:15:05","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T08:45:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=418580"},"modified":"2024-08-28T14:13:49","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T08:43:49","slug":"toncoin-halted-3-hour-network-outage-triggers-price-volume-dip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/toncoin-halted-3-hour-network-outage-triggers-price-volume-dip\/","title":{"rendered":"Toncoin halted: 3-hour network outage triggers price, volume dip"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em>TON was down for almost three hours as block production halted reportedly due to congestion.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Assessing the impact of the downtime on the network.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/predictions\/the-open-network-price-prediction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Toncoin [TON]<\/a> has no doubt been one of the fastest growing networks and its runtime has been flawless until now. Fresh reports indicate that the network experienced its first downtime incident this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary reports found using Tonscan show that block generation on Ton halted for almost three hours. One of the TON Foundation members revealed that the downtime was caused by transactions overload, mainly involving DOGS.<\/p>\n<p>The downtime resulted in the suspension of deposits and withdrawals via TON by multiple exchanges. This includes Binance and ByBit.<\/p>\n<p>The downtime reportedly caused a loss of consensus among validators. This means that validators have to restart the network to kick things into motion again. TON had already <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ton_blockchain\/status\/1828666523998691503\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fixed the issue<\/a> and restored network operations at press time.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Assessing impact on Toncoin and user confidence<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While network downtime may trigger some loss of confidence among users, TON\u2019s rapid response and network restoration may dilute any confidence fallout.<\/p>\n<p>The rapid reaction and network restoration also downplay the severity of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>TON now joins the likes of Solana which also has a history of downtime. The network has so far experienced robust growth in volume, with exponential growth taking place since the end of February.<\/p>\n<p>TON\u2019s highest daily transaction volume peaked at $11.31 billion in July. So, lets take a look at how busy TON has been in that regard.<\/p>\n<p>On-chain data reveals that active addresses have been hovering between 500,000 and 1.6 million addresses within the last 3 months.<\/p>\n<p>Address activity grew exponentially in the last five days. This lends credence to the claim that transaction overload may have been the trigger behind the network downtime incident.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Read\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/predictions\/the-open-network-price-prediction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Toncoin [TON] Price Prediction<\/a>\u00a02024 -2025<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Toncoin retested its August lows after tanking by as much as 26% during the weekend.
