{"id":390167,"date":"2024-05-07T12:30:52","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T07:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=390167"},"modified":"2024-05-07T11:46:39","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T06:16:39","slug":"stablecoins-dominated-by-bots-only-10-real-users-visa-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/stablecoins-dominated-by-bots-only-10-real-users-visa-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Stablecoins dominated by bots, only 10% real users &#8211; Visa report"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over 90% of stablecoin volumes are linked to bots and large traders.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The findings suggest that stablecoin payments haven\u2019t hit mainstream adoption yet.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Only less than 10% of the April <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/stablecoins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stablecoin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> transaction volume was linked to genuine users. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a Bloomberg <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-05-05\/more-than-90-of-stablecoin-transactions-aren-t-real-study-finds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which cited Visa Inc.&#8217;s latest findings, over 90% of volume was linked to bots and large-scale traders.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Part of the report highlighted that,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOut of about $2.2 trillion in total transactions in April, just $149 billion originated from organic payments activity\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_390169\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-390169\" style=\"width: 967px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Stablecoins-report-Bloomberg.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-390169 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Stablecoins-report-Bloomberg.png\" alt=\"Stablecoin\" width=\"967\" height=\"771\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Stablecoins-report-Bloomberg.png 967w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Stablecoins-report-Bloomberg-300x239.png 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Stablecoins-report-Bloomberg-768x612.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 967px) 100vw, 967px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-390169\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Bloomberg<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Compared to the $150 trillion payments industry, the report suggested that stablecoins were far from hitting mainstream adoption as a payment option.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Stablecoin have a long way to hit mainstream adoption<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Paypal and Stripe are some traditional payment ecosystem players that have entered into the stablecoins space.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visa, a major traditional player, handled $12 trillion in transactions last year alone. Most market watchers view the global mainstream adoption of stablecoin payments as a direct threat to Visa\u2019s business.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, some market watchers believe that the market is in its early stages and mainstream adoption could occur in the long run, but in the short or midterm, attention should be on the payment rails. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One analyst, Pranav Sood, general manager at the payment platform Airwallex, commented,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe short-term and the mid-term focus needs to be on making sure that existing rails work much better.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the meantime, the stablecoin market surged further amidst market improvement from massive drawdowns in March and April.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its market cap hit $160B, with DAI dominating notable growth from blue-chip stablecoins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> On the monthly front, Ethena\u2019s USDe and First Digital\u2019s FDUSD registered double-digit growth, DeFiLlama <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/defillama.com\/stablecoins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">data<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> showed.
