{"id":385112,"date":"2024-04-18T03:30:03","date_gmt":"2024-04-17T22:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=385112"},"modified":"2024-04-17T18:47:12","modified_gmt":"2024-04-17T13:17:12","slug":"zero-flow-days-for-bitcoin-spot-etfs-what-does-it-mean-for-btc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/zero-flow-days-for-bitcoin-spot-etfs-what-does-it-mean-for-btc\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin spot ETFs&#8217; &#8216;Zero flow&#8217; days &#8211; All you need to know"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bitcoin spot ETF sees zero netflow.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GBTC holdings continue to decline.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the approval and launch of the spot <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/bitcoin-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitcoin [BTC]<\/a> ETF, Grayscale&#8217;s Bitcoin holdings have experienced a decline.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> After the ETF&#8217;s launch, most platforms have witnessed zero flows for the first time.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Grayscale&#8217;s Bitcoin holdings halves<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An examination of institutions that recently obtained spot <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/bitcoin-etfs-2024-halving-and-beyond-all-about-btcs-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitcoin<\/a> ETF approvals revealed that Grayscale held the highest BTC market capitalization. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, a deeper dive into the data revealed a decline in the volume of BTC held by Grayscale over recent months. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coinglass data indicated that as of January, Grayscale held over 619,000 BTC. Nonetheless, certain spot ETF platforms have recently recorded zero flows.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Spot Bitcoin ETFs see consecutive outflows<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An analysis of the <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/bitcoin-2024-halving-why-the-next-3-days-are-crucial-for-miners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitcoin<\/a> spot ETF netflow on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinglass.com\/bitcoin-etf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coinglass<\/a> indicates consecutive outflows over the past few days. On the 15th and 16th of April, outflows amounted to $26.7 million and $58 million, respectively. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This isn&#8217;t the first occurrence of consecutive negative flows, with the highest number observed in March. In March, data revealed consecutive outflows for five days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Notably, BlackRock&#8217;s IBIT and Grayscale&#8217;s GBTC are the only U.S. spot BTC ETFs to record any flows since the beginning of the week.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_385130\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-385130\" style=\"width: 882px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Total-Bitcoin-spot-ETF-Netflow.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-385130\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Total-Bitcoin-spot-ETF-Netflow.png\" alt=\"Spot Bitcoin Netflow\" width=\"882\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Total-Bitcoin-spot-ETF-Netflow.png 882w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Total-Bitcoin-spot-ETF-Netflow-300x204.png 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Total-Bitcoin-spot-ETF-Netflow-768x522.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 882px) 100vw, 882px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-385130\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Coinglass<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4><strong>Zero flows dominate ETF flows<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Further analysis of the <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/bitcoin-should-you-expect-more-volatility-ahead-of-the-halving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitcoin<\/a> spot ETF flow revealed that on the 15th of April, GBTC experienced an outflow of $157.50 million, followed by another outflow of $109 million on the 16th of April, continuing the trend of consecutive outflows. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In contrast, IBIT saw a different flow pattern, with an inflow of $76.23 million on 15 April and nearly $26 million on 16 April.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notably, there have been no flows from other platforms.
