{"id":383061,"date":"2024-04-10T05:30:14","date_gmt":"2024-04-10T00:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=383061"},"modified":"2024-04-09T19:44:12","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T14:14:12","slug":"bitcoins-q1-paradox-prices-soar-69-even-as-network-activity-dips","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/bitcoins-q1-paradox-prices-soar-69-even-as-network-activity-dips\/","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin&#8217;s Q1 paradox: Prices up by 69%, but not all good news because&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em>BTC\u2019s price rose by 69% in Q1.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>However, during the same period, its blockchain witnessed a decline in activity.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">User activity on the <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/bitcoin-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitcoin [BTC]<\/a> network declined in the first quarter, despite the significant rally in its coin\u2019s price during that period, Messari found in a new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/messari.io\/report\/state-of-bitcoin-q1-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its report titled \u201cState of Bitcoin Q1 2024,\u201d the onchain data provider found that during the 90-day period, the demand for the Bitcoin network fell.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The average daily count of addresses that completed at least one transaction on the blockchain during the quarter totaled 895,000. This represented a 5% decline from the 937,000 average daily active addresses on the Bitcoin network in the last quarter of 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The decline in the number of active addresses on the blockchain resulted in a fall in the count of transactions completed on it during the quarter under review. According to Messari, average daily transactions on the network fell by 15.3%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commenting on what might have been responsible for the decline in network activity, Messari said:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe changes suggest that the transaction decline may have come from decreased activity from bots or \u201csuper users\u201d (users that transact often and account for a large portion of the activity).\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the fall in transaction count on the network, the average fee received per transaction also declined. During the quarter under review, overall fees made by the Bitcoin network cratered by 42%.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Some wins to its name\u00a0<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The year\u2019s first quarter saw a significant rally in BTC\u2019s value. Between 1st January and 31st March, the coin\u2019s price rose by 69%. The coin closed the quarter at $71,310 and reached a new all-time high during that quarter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Messari said that spot BTC ETFs which received their long-awaited approval in January, \u201cwere perhaps the largest catalyst\u201d for the price growth recorded. During Q1, all 11 ETF providers recorded inflows totaling $12.04 billion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The quarter was also marked by an increase in block size due to inscription-related activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Read\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/calculator\/profit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Bitcoin\u2019s [BTC] Price Prediction<\/a>\u00a02024-25<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Messari:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMore recently, on March 2, 2024, Marathon mined a block at 3.99 MB. Following that, F2Pool mined a block at 3.97 MB on March 30, 2024.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regarding network security, its hashrate increased 19% quarter-over-quarter.
