{"id":381521,"date":"2024-04-04T11:30:08","date_gmt":"2024-04-04T06:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=381521"},"modified":"2024-04-04T10:53:02","modified_gmt":"2024-04-04T05:23:02","slug":"arbitrum-to-unlock-93m-tokens-will-it-disrupt-arb-prices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/arbitrum-to-unlock-93m-tokens-will-it-disrupt-arb-prices\/","title":{"rendered":"Arbitrum to unlock 93M tokens: Will it disrupt ARB prices?"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em>Just about 25% of their team members and investors&#8217; allocation was unfrozen during the March unlock.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><i>ARB plunged 26% since the March unlock.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While the mega <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/arbitrum-arb-falls-14-after-1-1b-token-unlock-but-is-a-rise-coming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1.1 billion-unlock<\/a> was behind us, holders of Layer-2 (L2) token <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/predictions\/arbitrum-price-prediction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Arbitrum [ARB]<\/a> should brace themselves for more volatility and potential price drops in the coming months.<\/p>\n<h4>Expect unlocks every month<\/h4>\n<p>As per Arbitrum&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/token.unlocks.app\/arbitrum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unlock schedule<\/a>, nearly 93 million ARBs, worth $136 million at prevailing market prices, would be pushed into circulation on a monthly basis over the next three years.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the unlocked supply would pertain to Arbitrum team members\/contributors and investors. Just about 25% of their total allocation was unfrozen during the last unlock in March.<\/p>\n<p>In the cryptocurrency realm, token unlocks involve a staggered release of a fixed number of tokens at predetermined time intervals and distributed to specific members.<\/p>\n<p>They are typically seen as bearish catalysts since extra tokens in the market could induce selling pressure.<\/p>\n<h4>How did ARB deal with the last unlock?<\/h4>\n<p>True to the narrative, ARB plunged 26% since the massive unlock on the 16th of March, per <a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/currencies\/arbitrum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CoinMarketCap<\/a>. In fact, ARB started to fall in the days leading to the unlock event, signaling anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>It was observed how large transactions worth more than $100k started to rise just before the unlock and continued for a nearly a week after the event.
