{"id":380304,"date":"2024-03-30T09:30:28","date_gmt":"2024-03-30T04:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=380304"},"modified":"2024-03-29T16:10:10","modified_gmt":"2024-03-29T10:40:10","slug":"opensea-ends-march-on-a-low-note-whats-happening-with-nfts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/opensea-ends-march-on-a-low-note-whats-happening-with-nfts\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenSea&#8217;s poor March &#8211; What&#8217;s going on with NFTs?"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NFT sales volume has dropped by 4% since the beginning of March.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The month has also seen a decline in the performance of Blue-Chip NFTs.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leading non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace OpenSea is poised to close March with a decline in its monthly NFT sales volume.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to data from a Dune Analytics <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dune.com\/rchen8\/opensea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dashboard<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> prepared by Rchen8, NFT sales on the marketplace in the past 28 days have totaled $147 million, representing a 4% decline from the $153 million recorded in February.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fall in OpenSea\u2019s sales volume is due to the steady decline in user activity on the marketplace since the beginning of the year. So far this month, 75,000 active users have completed at least one transaction on OpenSea. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This marked a 27% drop from the 103,000 active users recorded in February and a 40% decrease from January\u2019s 125,000. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the Dune Analytics dashboard, March represents OpenSea&#8217;s lowest monthly user count since July 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_380308\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-380308\" style=\"width: 1422px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/OpenSea-monthly-active-users.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-380308 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/OpenSea-monthly-active-users.png\" alt=\"OpenSea monthly active users\" width=\"1422\" height=\"630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/OpenSea-monthly-active-users.png 1422w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/OpenSea-monthly-active-users-300x133.png 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/OpenSea-monthly-active-users-1024x454.png 1024w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/OpenSea-monthly-active-users-768x340.png 768w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/OpenSea-monthly-active-users-1200x532.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1422px) 100vw, 1422px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-380308\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Dune Analytics<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the fall in user activity on the marketplace so far in March, the monthly count of NFTs sold on OpenSea has plummeted to its lowest year-to-date. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the last 28 days, the number of NFTs sold on OpenSea has totaled 123,000. This has marked a 38% drop from the 199,000 total NFTs sold on the marketplace in January, representing the marketplace\u2019s lowest monthly count since May 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interestingly, despite the low user activity and sales volume on OpenSea this month, the platform\u2019s monthly fees derived from primary transactions and royalties have risen to their highest since the beginning of the year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the last 28 days, fees from primary transactions and royalties have each amounted to $4 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Blue-Chip NFTs in Q1 2024<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first two months saw a rise in activity in the NFT vertical of the ecosystem.
