{"id":375318,"date":"2024-03-10T12:00:21","date_gmt":"2024-03-10T06:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=375318"},"modified":"2024-03-10T10:53:52","modified_gmt":"2024-03-10T05:23:52","slug":"uniswaps-new-proposal-gets-rejected-what-it-means-for-uni","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/uniswaps-new-proposal-gets-rejected-what-it-means-for-uni\/","title":{"rendered":"Uniswap&#8217;s new proposal gets rejected: What it means for UNI"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em>About 59.89% of the votes were cast against the amendment.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><i>UNI has more than doubled in value in the last month.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/predictions\/uniswap-price-prediction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Uniswap [UNI]<\/a> plunged more than 5% in the last 24 hours of trading on the rejection of a proposal allowing the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) to make changes to the protocol&#8217;s fee mechanism.<\/p>\n<h4>Understanding the proposal&#8217;s significance<\/h4>\n<p>The governance token of the world&#8217;s largest decentralized exchange (DEX) was trading below $15 at press time.<\/p>\n<p>This sparked some concerns for the asset that has otherwise gained 125% in the last month, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CoinMarketCap<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The factory owner amendment, as it was popularly called, was proposed to the Uniswap DAO on the 3rd of March. The proposal aimed at accomplishing two stated goals.<\/p>\n<p>First, to boost the participation of UNI token holders in the protocol&#8217;s governance, and second, to create an economic incentive for holders to delegate their tokens.<\/p>\n<p>The proposer claimed that such changes would make the DAO \u201cmore robust\u201d and prevent it from being restricted to a single implementation, thereby encouraging more experimentation.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/snapshot.org\/#\/uniswapgovernance.eth\/proposal\/0x3d8d2f44677c19f49a5bbe4466e4b50068b1a704861801d95384c898b1cbde54\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">snapshot poll<\/a> was subsequently conducted. However, about 30 million UNI votes, representing 59.89% of the total, were cast against the amendment, resulting in a rejection.<\/p>\n<p>The snapshot vote, or a \u201ctemperature check\u201d is done to ascertain the community&#8217;s sentiment towards the proposed changes. It is conducted off-chain and precedes the final on-chain vote.<\/p>\n<h4>Still a lot to look forward to<\/h4>\n<p>While the rejection dented the spirits of some community members, they might find solace in the larger, uplifting news from last week.<\/p>\n<p>The landmark <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.uniswap.org\/t\/temperature-check-activate-uniswap-protocol-governance\/22936\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposal<\/a> to reward UNI holders who have staked and delegated their tokens passed the snapshot poll with a 100% majority.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Realistic or not, here\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/calculator\/marketcap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">UNI\u2019s market cap in BTC\u2019s terms<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>A successful on-chain vote would execute the suggested changes on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>The first <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/uniswap-surges-by-65-to-cross-12-but-investors-should-be-cautious-as\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mention<\/a> of the proposal by the Uniswap Foundation launched UNI up by more than 65%.
