belonging to whale cohorts decreased steadily since the start of the year.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The broader market rally spurred a 5.42% increase in the price of <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/xrp-ripple-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Ripple [XRP]<\/a> over the last 24 hours, reigniting hopes of a bounce above the stubborn $0.57 level.<\/p>\n<p>As of this writing, the sixth-largest cryptocurrency was exchanging hands at $0.56, with previous attempts by bulls to breach the aforementioned barrier proving to be unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_372750\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-372750\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/xrp-price-chart.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-372750\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/xrp-price-chart.jpg\" alt=\"XRP Price Chart\" width=\"630\" height=\"380\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: CoinMarketCap<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While time will tell whether the altcoin succeeds, the recent price action doesn&#8217;t evoke much optimism.<\/p>\n<h4>XRP disappoints investors<\/h4>\n<p>According to AMBCrypto&#8217;s scrutiny of market data from <a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/\">CoinMarketCap<\/a>, XRP was the most underperforming large-cap crypto over the last month, with total gains of just over 4%.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, market barometers like <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/bitcoin-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitcoin [BTC]<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/ethereum-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ethereum [ETH]<\/a>, along with leading alts <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/solana-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solana [SOL]<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/category\/binance-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Binance Coin [BNB]<\/a>, recorded increases to the top of 20% at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>XRP&#8217;s dwindling influence was also highlighted by crypto analyst Benjamin Cowen.<\/p>\n<p>He noted how the payments-focused crypto&#8217;s dominance in the market dropped from over 31% in 2017 to just 1.48% as of February 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, XRP lost nearly three-quarters of its market valuation since hitting a peak in January 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/xrp-lawsuit-ripple-condemns-latest-sec-reaction-to-amici\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> initiated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) along with the bear market of 2022 played a big role in the downfall.<\/p>\n<p>While the <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/why-xrps-landmark-victory-against-sec-could-open-the-crypto-flood-gates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legal victory<\/a> in the case last year cheered XRP supporters, the story since then hasn&#8217;t been particularly encouraging.<\/p>\n<h4>Have whales given up on XRP?<\/h4>\n<p>According to AMBCrypto&#8217;s analysis of Santiment&#8217;s data, the percent of XRP supply in profit fell from nearly 90% in November 2023, to below 84% as of this writing.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_372764\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-372764\" whales might be utilizing the quiet phase to accumulate.
