{"id":362153,"date":"2024-01-06T00:00:17","date_gmt":"2024-01-05T18:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=362153"},"modified":"2024-01-05T13:36:41","modified_gmt":"2024-01-05T08:06:41","slug":"ethereum-how-celsius-latest-move-might-impact-your-eth-holdings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/ethereum-how-celsius-latest-move-might-impact-your-eth-holdings\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethereum: How Celsius&#8217; latest move might impact your ETH holdings"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celsius has decided to unstake its ETH holdings to repay its creditors.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The last week has seen a decline in demand for ETH.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a series of posts on X, bankrupt cryptocurrency lender Celsius Network [CEL] announced plans to unstake its Ether [ETH] holdings as a part of its ongoing restructuring process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In preparation of any asset distributions, Celsius has started the process of recalling and rebalancing assets to ensure ample liquidity<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Celsius (@CelsiusNetwork) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CelsiusNetwork\/status\/1743023398349930623?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 4, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The beleaguered crypto lender, which has been in bankruptcy court since it made its Chapter 11 filing in July 2022, noted that it has initiated a\u00a0 process of recalling and rebalancing assets to guarantee that it has sufficient liquidity to offset its liabilities under the bankruptcy proceedings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celsius added that the unlocking event is expected to take place within the next few days. It further said that eligible creditors will receive in-kind distributions of Bitcoin [BTC] and ETH as per the approved <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/celsius-network-aims-to-repay-customers-by-year-end-in-restructuring-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">restructuring plan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Ethereum at risk?<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to data from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/query.nansen.ai\/public\/dashboards\/Hk93n66vsO0uvycfui8ypF2xcpNhpraxfwX5AWZJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nansen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 32% of ETH coins awaiting withdrawal are currently linked to Celsius. This accounts for a substantial 206,300 ETH, valued at about $468.5 million based on the leading altcoin\u2019s current price.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_362166\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-362166\" style=\"width: 939px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/newplot-5.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-362166 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/newplot-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"939\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/newplot-5.png 939w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/newplot-5-300x96.png 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/newplot-5-768x245.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 939px) 100vw, 939px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-362166\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Nansen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With such a large volume of coins ready to be released onto the market, some <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Luigi_Vampa1\/status\/1743064683592941713?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">believe<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that it would put downward pressure on ETH\u2019s price. Others, however, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WazzCrypto\/status\/1743030572899770382\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">opined<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that it might benefit the ETH market once Celsius concludes its restructuring efforts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of this writing, ETH exchanged hands at $2,250. The alt has witnessed a 5% drop in value in the last week, according to data from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/currencies\/ethereum\/#Chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CoinMarketCap<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The coin\u2019s momentum indicators observed on a 24-hour chart have trended downward since the year began, suggesting a decline in buying momentum since then. At press time, ETH\u2019s Relative Strength Index (RSI) was 48.82, while its Money Flow Index (MFI) was 54.74.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) spotted below the zero line confirmed that traders have increasingly removed liquidity from ETH markets. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/bitcoins-history-tells-us-that-a-spot-etf-approval-is-not-without-risks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fears<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of a blanket SEC rejection of Bitcoin ETFs could be driving this capital removal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A significantly positive correlation exists between BTC and ETH. Hence, should the rejection result in a decline in BTC\u2019s price, ETH\u2019s price is sure to witness a retraction as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Is your portfolio green?
