The Bitcoin ETF\u2019s ticker will be IBTC, he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The iShares Bitcoin Trust has been listed on the DTCC (Depository Trust &amp; Clearing Corporation, which clears NASDAQ trades). And the ticker will be <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24IBTC&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$IBTC<\/a>. Again all part of the process of bringing ETF to market.. h\/t <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/martypartymusic?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@martypartymusic<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8PQP3h2yW0\">pic.twitter.com\/8PQP3h2yW0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Eric Balchunas (@EricBalchunas) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EricBalchunas\/status\/1716529570759704832?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 23, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>It led to speculations in the crypto market that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was soon going to approve BlackRock\u2019s offering.<\/p>\n<h4>Reuters dispels rumor<\/h4>\n<p>But it turns out the ETF had been on the DTCC website since August, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/finance\/blackrocks-bitcoin-etf-added-dtcc-file-aug-dtcc-spokesperson-2023-10-24\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">per<\/a> a recent Reuters report.<\/p>\n<p>The report stated the Bitcoin ETF was added to a clearing-house eligibility file of DTCC in August itself. DTCC had added it as a \u201cstandard practice\u201d for potential ETFs.<\/p>\n<p>The reported cited a DTCC spokesperson\u2019s comment on the matter, saying,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Appearing on the list is not indicative of an outcome for any outstanding regulatory or other approval processes.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Getting a ticker symbol and a unique ID code known as a CUSIP is a standard part of the prep work for any proposed ETF. It doesn\u2019t mean the offering has been approved for trading.<\/p>\n<h4>Not the first misleading speculation this month<\/h4>\n<p>This is the second time in October that misleading speculations around BlackRock\u2019s Bitcoin ETF gained significant traction.<\/p>\n<p>A leading crypto-focused news publication <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/arks-cathie-wood-expects-multiple-bitcoin-etfs-to-be-approved-at-once\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted<\/a> an erroneous tweet on 16 October that the SEC had approved iShares spot Bitcoin ETF. The publication\u00a0apologized\u00a0for the mistake later.<\/p>\n<p>Both of these speculations led to market frenzy that soon died down when the dust got settled.<\/p>\n<h4>BlackRock to pay a $2.5 million penalty in another case<\/h4>\n<p>Meanwhile, BlackRock got embroiled in another matter as the SEC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/news\/press-release\/2023-226\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">charged<\/a> it with &#8220;failing to accurately describe investments&#8221; in the entertainment industry.
