{"id":349643,"date":"2023-10-09T18:30:59","date_gmt":"2023-10-09T13:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=349643"},"modified":"2023-10-09T17:40:01","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T12:10:01","slug":"non-authorized-crypto-firms-cross-140-per-u-k-fca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/non-authorized-crypto-firms-cross-140-per-u-k-fca\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Non-authorized&#8217; crypto firms cross 140, per U.K. FCA"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em>The latest updates ask crypto exchanges to warn their users about the risks associated with crypto investments. <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Many crypto firms have updated their platforms in order to comply with the new regulation.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA),\u00a0the United Kingdom\u2019s financial markets regulator, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fca.org.uk\/consumers\/warning-list-unauthorised-firms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">added<\/a> 143 new\u00a0crypto exchanges to its list of \u201cnon-authorized\u201d firms on 8 October.<\/p>\n<p>Though the regulatory body has not revealed any details about the update, it has advised customers in the U.K. to \u201cavoid\u201d dealing with such crypto firms.<\/p>\n<p>The FCA must have granted permission or temporary status to crypto firms for them to operate in the U.K.<\/p>\n<p>The latest updates\u00a0ask crypto\u00a0exchanges to provide fair warnings to their users about the risks associated with crypto investments. The marketing messaging must be \u201cclear, fair and not misleading.\u201d They must also include a 24-hour\u00a0cooling-off period\u00a0for new customers.<\/p>\n<h4>Firms take measures to comply with latest regulations<\/h4>\n<p>Many crypto firms have updated their mobile and online applications in reaction to the latest update in order to comply with the new regulations. Firms were quick to inform their customers about these updates, including additional \u201crisk disclaimers\u201d for crypto transactions.<\/p>\n<p>The firms asked their users to upgrade their mobile apps.<\/p>\n<p>Binance [BNB]\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/en\/blog\/ecosystem\/binance-launches-uk-domain-in-compliance-with-new-financial-promotions-rules-2903800236178709961\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a>\u00a0a new webpage specifically for its customers in the U.K. After temporarily halting operations, it resumed operations of its mobile application in compliance with the latest regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The firm also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/en-IN\/feed\/post\/1277144\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> collaboration with the FCA-regulated firm Rebuilding Society for this purpose.<\/p>\n<p>OKX has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.okx.com\/learn\/new-uk-financial-promotions-rules\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made<\/a> various changes geared to its UK retail customers. It reduced the number of tokens available in the country from over a hundred to only 40. It also incorporated a prominent risk advisory banner on its website.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Komainu\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/register.fca.org.uk\/s\/firm?id=0014G000032wN4IQAU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obtained<\/a> the license to operate in the U.K. Note that the firm is backed by Nomura, CoinShares, and Ledger. Bybit, a crypto exchange, also <a href=\"https:\/\/announcements.bybit.com\/en-US\/article\/announcement-bybit-to-suspend-services-in-the-uk-blt286daa9208c8f3aa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stopped<\/a> its services in the region last month owing to \u201cregulatory changes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PayPal also decided to <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/paypal-to-hit-pause-on-uk-crypto-purchases-from-october\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">halt<\/a> crypto transactions for its customers in the U.K. until it figures out how to comply with the FCA\u2019s requirements.
