Check out the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/calculator\/solana-profit-calculator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">SOL Profit Calculator<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Solana highly sensitive to FUD<\/h3>\n<p>An on-chain analyst who goes by the pseudonym Emperor Osmo took to social platform X to draw attention to the strong correlation between negative social commentary on SOL and the subsequent impact on its price.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It is intriguing to observe the correlation between social media-induced FUD regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24SOL&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$SOL<\/a> and its impact on price performance. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AR4ZYgJqLD\">pic.twitter.com\/AR4ZYgJqLD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Emperor Osmo \ud83d\udc02 \ud83c\udfaf (@Flowslikeosmo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Flowslikeosmo\/status\/1703544380274131307?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 17, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The most recent example that comes to mind is the FUD surrounding FTX&#8217;s\u00a0upcoming\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/why-the-crypto-market-should-brace-for-another-downward-pressure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">liquidation plan<\/a>. The bankrupt exchange got court approval to sell its assets, a vast majority of which is held in SOL.<\/p>\n<p>Holders are concerned that the market might be flooded with SOL coins in the near future, resulting in a strong downward pressure on its value.<\/p>\n<p>The attached graph highlights how SOL plunged by nearly 10% as social mentions of the asset skyrocketed. This, despite the plan having adequate safeguards in place, such as placing a cap on the weekly liquidation value.<\/p>\n<h3>Blast from the past<\/h3>\n<p>The association with FTX brought misery to SOL in the past as well. The stunning collapse of the exchange in the fall of 2022 brought down the market with it.<\/p>\n<p>SOL, on the other hand, sustained significantly more damage as a result of FTX Founder Sam Bankman-Fried&#8217;s backing and investments in several of Solana&#8217;s projects.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_344513\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-344513\" style=\"width: 1078px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Social-mentions.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-344513 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Social-mentions.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1078\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Social-mentions.jpg 1078w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Social-mentions-300x114.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Social-mentions-1024x390.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Social-mentions-768x293.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1078px) 100vw, 1078px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-344513\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: LunarCrush<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In this case too, SOL&#8217;s social mentions surged to new heights with prices following in the opposite direction, as indicated by LunarCrush&#8217;s data.<\/p>\n<p>Solana&#8217;s history is also marred by periodic network disruptions. These have eroded its relative advantages in speed and efficiency. Earlier in February, Solana suffered a major outage which lasted nearly 20 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The glitch birthed another series of <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/investors-bearish-on-solana-sol-as-continued-outages-stem-momentum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">negative commentary<\/a> around SOL. Words like \u2018concern\u2019 and \u2018outage\u2019 were frequently used in tandem with SOL in that phase.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Realistic or not, here\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/calculator\/marketcap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">SOL\u2019s market cap in BTC\u2019s terms<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Will SOL ride out the storm?<\/h3>\n<p>It was therefore expected and evident that a surge in social activity was invariably followed by a drop in SOL&#8217;s value.
