It <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/singapore-grants-regulatory-approval-to-this-exchange\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">received<\/a> an in-principal license from the central bank last year.<\/p>\n<p>Blockchain.com has now become the twelfth digital token service provider in Singapore. It joins the likes of Circle, Independent Reserve, Paxos, Revolut and DBS Vickers.<\/p>\n<p>Blockchain.com CEO and Co-Founder\u00a0Peter Smith said,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We are thrilled to receive this license that will allow Blockchain.com to bring our industry-leading products and services to\u00a0Singapore, we commend the Monetary Authority of\u00a0Singapore\u00a0on its transparent regulatory process that prioritizes\u00a0crypto\u00a0industry oversight while allowing innovation to thrive.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Singapore\u00a0also serves as the Southeast Asia\u00a0headquarters of Blockchain.com.<\/p>\n<p>Blockchain.com was launched in the United Kingdom in 2011. It claims to have created more than 90 million wallets, over 40 million verified users, and processed over US$1 trillion in crypto transactions. It has permissions and registrations in several jurisdictions, including the United States.<\/p>\n<h4>Singapore adopts crypto-specific measures<\/h4>\n<p>Only recently, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the country\u2019s central bank, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mas.gov.sg\/news\/media-releases\/2023\/mas-commits-up-to-s%24150-million-for-technology-and-innovation-in-financial-sector\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that it would commit $112 million over a period of three years to promote the financial technology sector. The scheme would also cover fintech institutions active in Web3. The MAS is planning to provide grant funding to encourage actual trials and facilitate the commercialization of these solutions later.<\/p>\n<p>In June, the MAS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mas.gov.sg\/news\/media-releases\/2023\/mas-publishes-investor-protection-measures-for-digital-payment-token-services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issued<\/a> a new set of rules for crypto firms. It required crypto service providers to hold customer assets in a statutory trust by year-end.
