{"id":325941,"date":"2023-07-08T14:00:37","date_gmt":"2023-07-08T08:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=325941"},"modified":"2023-07-08T12:26:09","modified_gmt":"2023-07-08T06:56:09","slug":"arbitrum-whats-behind-the-plummeting-transaction-count","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/arbitrum-whats-behind-the-plummeting-transaction-count\/","title":{"rendered":"Arbitrum: What&#8217;s behind the plummeting transaction count?"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em>Arbitrum recently crossed the 9 million total addresses count.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>However, the daily transactions count on the network is falling.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the cumulative count of distinct addresses on Layer 2 (L2) platform Arbitrum [ARB] recently crossed the 9-million mark, daily transactions on the optimistic rollup network were dwindling, on-chain data revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Realistic or not,\u00a0here\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/calculator\/marketcap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">ARB\u2019s market cap in BTC&#8217;s terms<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of 7 July, the total number of addresses on Arbitrum was 9.67 million, per data from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/arbiscan.io\/chart\/tx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ArbiScan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Information from the same data provider revealed that the network has been plagued by a decline in daily transactions since the end of Q1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the count of daily transactions on Arbitrum registered an all-time high of 2.73 million on 23 March, it has since trended downwards. In Q2, this fell consistently by over 50%. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of 7 July, daily transactions completed on Arbitrum totaled 742,667, declining by 73% from 23 March&#8217;s high.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_325944\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-325944\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/chart-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-325944\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/chart-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/chart-1.png 1200w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/chart-1-300x275.png 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/chart-1-1024x939.png 1024w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/chart-1-768x704.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-325944\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: ArbiScan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Arbitrum dealt with a shortfall in its daily transactions, data from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/data\/scaling-solutions\/optimistic-rollups\/transaction-count-daily-7dma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TheBlock<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> showed a steady increment in daily transactions completed on Optimism [OP] since the beginning of May. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the data provider, the daily transactions count of a 7-day moving average has since climbed by over 200%. As of 6 July, 484,710 transactions were completed on Optimism.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_325945\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-325945\" style=\"width: 2560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-08-at-06.59.13.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-325945\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-08-at-06.59.13.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"801\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-08-at-06.59.13.png 2560w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-08-at-06.59.13-300x94.png 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-08-at-06.59.13-1024x320.png 1024w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-08-at-06.59.13-768x240.png 768w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-08-at-06.59.13-1536x481.png 1536w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-2023-07-08-at-06.59.13-2048x641.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-325945\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: TheBlock<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4><b>Some wins and some losses for Arbitrum<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For additional context on the drop in Arbitrum\u2019s daily transactions count, an assessment of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the total volume of Arbitrum\u2019s transactions completed through on-chain decentralized exchanges (DEXes) in the past few months revealed that this has declined by 78% since mid-April. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Per data from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/app.artemis.xyz\/dashboard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artemis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, on-chain DEX volume rallied to a high of 1.2 billion transactions on 19 April. However, as of 7 July, this has plummeted to under 300 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, despite the continued drop in DEX activity, Arbitrum\u2019s total value locked (TVL) has increased since the beginning of June.
