{"id":320278,"date":"2023-06-13T19:00:02","date_gmt":"2023-06-13T13:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=320278"},"modified":"2023-06-13T15:45:49","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T10:15:49","slug":"will-polygon-2-0-overturn-matics-decline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/will-polygon-2-0-overturn-matics-decline\/","title":{"rendered":"Will Polygon 2.0 overturn MATIC&#8217;s decline?"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Polygon 2.0 aimed to improve scalability and liquidity access.<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social volume decreased, but zkEVM\u2019s adoption might help with MATIC\u2019s traction.<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Polygon Labs, the team behind <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Polygon [MATIC]<\/span>,<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> announced the launch of its value layer of the internet called \u201cPolygon 2.0.\u201d The disclosure, which went public on 12 June, would allow anyone on the internet to create and exchange information via the project\u2019s architecture.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Realistic or not, here\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/calculator\/marketcap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MATIC\u2019s market cap in ETH terms<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Although the upgrade was not yet in full operation, Polygon shared the version 2.0 blueprint in its official <a href=\"https:\/\/polygon.technology\/blog\/introducing-polygon-2-0-the-value-layer-of-the-internet?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_content=polygon-2.0-value-layer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. In its rollout plan, the Ethereum [ETH] scaling and infrastructural network users would access infinite scalability with the help of its Zero-Knowledge (ZK) feature.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe will lay out a roadmap for how Polygon will become the Value Layer of the Internet, offering unlimited scalability and unified liquidity via ZK technology.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><b>Deploying the rollup as sentiment slides<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In March, Polygon launched its beta version of the zk Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM). But the protocol had not yet <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/polygon-zkevm-falls-behind-starknet-and-zksync-era-what-next\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reached<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> its peak in adoption. Some have criticized the development while others have opted for the activity of other ZK rollups like <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/zksync-era-faces-block-production-failure-resumes-with-increased-tvl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">zkSync Era<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, that is not the only challenge Polygon or MATIC has been facing, besides the unimpressive adoption of PolygonzkEVM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Santiment, MATIC has struggled to get a positive <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/app.santiment.net\/charts\/wllgxPDf__sCl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">perception<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from the crypto community. This has been the case since April. This indicates that new address growth has been slow and transactions by the ones recently onboarded haven\u2019t necessarily grown to an eye-catching level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In terms of the social volume, MATIC has fallen. And over the last few days, the metric has been on a consistent decline. The social volume considers the level of search terms across several social networks.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How much are <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1,10,100 MATICs worth today<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">?<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When this metric increases, it means that an asset is on the radar of investors within a particular period. But the decrease in MATIC\u2019s social volume indicates otherwise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the recent Polygon 2.0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/app.santiment.net\/charts\/7LBQ3ZKc__sCl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">coincided<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a spike in active addresses. At press time, MATIC active addresses had surged to $283,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Typically, the metric rises when transactions in a network increase.
