{"id":299808,"date":"2023-03-24T17:00:52","date_gmt":"2023-03-24T11:30:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=299808"},"modified":"2023-03-24T14:37:49","modified_gmt":"2023-03-24T09:07:49","slug":"ethereum-shanghai-upgrade-approaches-heres-what-node-operators-should-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/ethereum-shanghai-upgrade-approaches-heres-what-node-operators-should-know\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethereum: Shanghai Upgrade approaches, here&#8217;s what node operators should know"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Earnings from transaction fees on the network declined by 3.66% over the previous week.<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>The Open Interest (OI) for ETH rose, complementing the increase in price.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In preparation for the much-anticipated Shanghai hard fork which is scheduled to go live on 12 April, Ethereum [ETH] developers asked all network validators to upgrade their nodes.<\/p>\n<p>During the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Xc6Ss-m_nlE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All Core Developers Consensus Call<\/a>, Ethereum client teams gave updates about the status of their final releases after which Alex Stokes, who chaired the call, asked all stakeholders to follow relevant distribution channels to take the next step.<\/p>\n<p>Another developer Paritosh added that mainnet nodes were getting synced and once final client releases were out, developers will execute one final mainnet shadow fork, a week before the eventual launch.<\/p>\n<p>Ethereum conducted successful launches of the Shanghai Upgrade, also known as Shapella, on various test networks. However, the last one on Goerli, the largest public Ethereum testnet, saw a dip in participation rates because validator nodes didn\u2019t upgrade.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Read\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/predictions\/ethereum-price-prediction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Ethereum\u2019s [ETH] Price Prediction<\/a>\u00a02023-2024<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>All&#8217;s not well with staking!<\/h3>\n<p>Staking activity on the Ethereum network saw steady growth as per data revealed by Glassnode. The total number of validators on the network reached 564,951, an increase of 5% over the previous month.<\/p>\n<p>But while the overall number of validators grew, the pace at which new players were entering the ecosystem declined. The king of altcoins registered gains of 11% on a month-to-date (MTD) basis, fueled by a broader crypto market recovery.<\/p>\n<p>With the rise in prices, investors&#8217; holdings became profitable.
