{"id":271514,"date":"2022-11-18T01:30:15","date_gmt":"2022-11-17T20:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=271514"},"modified":"2022-11-17T19:11:13","modified_gmt":"2022-11-17T13:41:13","slug":"heres-the-good-news-in-a-post-ftx-collapse-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/heres-the-good-news-in-a-post-ftx-collapse-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Here&#8217;s the good news in a post-FTX collapse world&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FTX&#8217;s collapse has been the single-biggest cause of concern for the crypto-industry, at least in the second half of 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The degree of fear and uncertainty that this catastrophic event has induced in the market is evident from the outflow of funds from exchanges and inflows into cold wallets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Market fundamentals remain stable<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite all the FUD surrounding FTX\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/ftt-collapse-post-mortem-how-ftx-was-led-by-kids-with-no-experience\/\">meltdown<\/a> and the subsequent impact on several projects like BlockFi, Genesis etc., <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chainalysis\/status\/1593007958010777600?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1593007958010777600%7Ctwgr%5Ed987da57f43fec7e35a837c52a10dcae96ef2169%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fcryptopotato.com%2Fcrypto-market-fundamentals-remain-stable-despite-ftx-collapse-chainalysis%2F\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">research<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> conducted by Chainalysis revealed that market fundamentals are still intact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report was based on several market indicators that the blockchain analytics firm has been keeping track of in order to determine the behavior of investors during this time of turmoil. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For instance, Chainalysis observed a decline in crypto-for-USD trades over the last few days, indicating that the rate at which crypto investors are cashing out has reached pre-FTX meltdown levels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As far as centralized exchanges (CEX) are concerned, withdrawals made by users are way more than deposits, leading to a drop in net inflow of funds. While new money may not be getting deposited, existing funds on CEXs are being moved around to other CEXs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>DeFi transactions surge\u00a0<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interestingly, users are resorting to DeFi protocols to park their funds while they wait for the markets to get stable, embracing the idea of self-custody. Much of the funds that are being taken off of CEXs are ending up on decentralized exchanges (DEX), which in turn has led to a surge in DEX trading volumes and transaction volume.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A deep dive into DeFi fund flows revealed that the primary factor behind the growth in DEX transaction volume is not the funds coming from CEXs. In fact, smart contracts are the source of 90% of these funds, with one MEV bot, in particular, becoming the second-largest source of funds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maximal Extractable Value bot or MEV bot is a smart contract that is programmed to scan transactions in the Ethereum mempool and execute the profitable ones. The MEV bot in question has sent close to $19 billion to DEXs since 4 November.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Chainalysis, the events that have transpired in FTX&#8217;s case should be looked at as a financial fraud, rather than as a crypto-specific problem.
