In addition, the outcry over unusual withdrawal delays on social media exacerbated the situation. The FUD tarnished Crypto.com&#8217;s image, and its token, Cronos (CRO), tanked until the CEO held a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SQeqdR_nbNY&amp;ab_channel=CryptoCom\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube session<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to address the issues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Addressing each of the problems<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The AMA addressed four problems that escalated the FUD and painted Crypto.com at risk of possible insolvency.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first issue is FTX exposure. Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek clarified that the exchange had transferred about $1 billion to FTX last year. The $1 billion has since been recovered, and the company lost only $10 million when FTX collapsed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Users also raised concerns that the exchange has 20% of the highly illiquid Shiba Inu tokens as part of its reserves. Kris reiterated that Shiba Inu and Doge were hot meme coins and users accumulated many. The percentage reflects the accumulation of users on the platform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The third issue raised was the suspension or delay of withdrawals as users rushed to move their money from exchanges to private wallets. Kris noted that this was a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kris\/status\/1592297882836963329\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">transaction congestion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and overload issue that&#8217;s since been resolved.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, there was no satisfactory explanation for the &#8220;accidental&#8221; transfer of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kris\/status\/1591741801245052928\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">320K ETH<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to Gate.io. This wasn&#8217;t a one-time error. A similar error happened in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2022\/aug\/31\/crypto-com-accidentally-transfers-10-5-million-australian-woman-melbourne-cryptocurrency\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">August<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and it took seven months for the company to notice it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, Kris pointed out that they don&#8217;t use CRO, native tokens, as collateral.
