{"id":269942,"date":"2022-11-10T23:30:32","date_gmt":"2022-11-10T18:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=269942"},"modified":"2022-11-10T20:41:14","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T15:11:14","slug":"binance-reveals-crypto-holdings-as-part-of-its-commitment-to-transparency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/binance-reveals-crypto-holdings-as-part-of-its-commitment-to-transparency\/","title":{"rendered":"Binance reveals crypto holdings as part of its commitment to transparency"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em>Binance\u2019s holdings add up to more than $47 billion<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changpeng Zhao previously <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">called<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for other crypto exchanges to do merkle-tree proof-of-reserves<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Binance, the world\u2019s largest crypto exchange by market capitalization, has come through on its commitment to greater transparency among exchanges.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>More than $47 billion in wallets<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A day after announcing that it will start with proof-of-reserve in the interest of full transparency, the exchange tweeted its crypto holdings held in hot as well as cold wallets. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The holdings include 475,000 BTC, 4.8 million ETH, 17.6 billion USDT, 21.7 billion BUSD, 601 million USDC, in addition to 58 million worth of BNB.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per the market rate of these tokens at the time writing, Binance\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/binance\/status\/1590676083287871489\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">holdings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> add up to more than $47 billion. These holdings were recorded at 12:00 a.m. UTC on 10 November. The tokens are available on various networks including BTC, ETH, TRX, BNB among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This update was followed by a detailed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/binance\/status\/1590675909576740865\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Binance wallet\u2019s contents. \u201cThis is a starting point while we work to create a Merkle tree POF that we will share with the community in the next few weeks.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our objective is to allow users of our platform to be aware and make informed decisions that are aligned with their financial goals.\u201d the report stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Binance&#8217;s commitment to transparency<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changpeng Zhao previously <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cz_binance\/status\/1590055819416330240\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">called<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for other crypto exchanges to do merkle-tree proof-of-reserves, saying that exchanges should not run on fractional reserves like banks do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking on the holdings disclosure, CEO Changpeng Zhao revealed that the current report only covers six of the 600 coins that his exchange currently holds. \u201cThis is while we are waiting for the proof-of-reserves to finish. Waiting on a vendor that everyone uses.
