Shareholders or investors with equity in the crypto lender have staked their claim for the bankruptcy payouts. Furthermore, these investors also filed a motion in the ongoing bankruptcy case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Celsius has temperatures rising <\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Milbank LLP, filed a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cases.stretto.com\/public\/x191\/11749\/PLEADINGS\/1174909232280000000006.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">motion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings on behalf of the shareholders. The motion demanded the appointment of an \u201cOfficial Preferred Equity Committee\u201d to represent shareholders that invested in Series A and Series B funding rounds of Celsius.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Celsius Series B funding round was <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/celsius-network-announces-an-investment-led-by-westcap-and-cdpq-at-a-valuation-more-than-us-3-billion-301397834.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">led<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">equity firm WestCap, and Caisse de d\u00e9p\u00f4t et placement du Qu\u00e9bec (CDPQ)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in October 2021. The round closed after raising $400 million at a valuation north of $3 billion. Furthermore, in November 2021, Celsius <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CelsiusNetwork\/status\/1463616618316005377\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">revealed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the round had been oversubscribed. This brought the total funds raised from Series B to a whopping $750 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To say that <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> shareholders are lining up for their share of the pay-out would be inaccurate. On the contrary, shareholders are asking for a higher priority than the original victims, the account holders.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shareholders wish to skip the que and want to be the first ones to benefit from the sale of certain assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>New token to deal with debt?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celsius owes almost $5 billion to half a million creditors. Executives at the bankrupt company are now looking to turn their debt into a crypto token. An audio of an internal meeting at Celsius was <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5YihvM0USw0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shared<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Tiffany Fong, a popular Celsius victim. CTO <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guillermo Bodnar can be heard outlining a plan to issue IOU cryptocurrencies to customers with regards to their compensations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, Celsius co-founder, Nuke Goldstein, also explained how \u201cwrapped tokens\u201d will serve as an IOU for customers who were a part of Celsius\u2019 Earn accounts. The tokens will reportedly represent the ratio between what Celsius owes customers and what assets they have available. The plan as of 24 September stood in the \u201cearly stages\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>It&#8217;s getting hot all around\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last month, another faction of claimants emerged. This was made up of\u00a0 Celsius Withhold Account holders from U.S states where Celsius was barred from offering custody accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This group was looking for a payout to the tune of $14.5 million. This amount was a drop in the bucket compared to the $12 billion that Celsius boasted of right before it halted withdrawals back in June.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Washington State Department of Financial Institutions filed a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cases.stretto.com\/public\/x191\/11749\/PLEADINGS\/1174909222280000000108.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">motion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to become party to bankruptcy proceedings. Assistant Attorney General Stephen Manning asked the presiding judge to admit him on behalf of Washington\u2019s financial regulator.
