According to the official announcement, the hacker drained assets from Binance Chain, Ethereum, and the Polygon network.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Important Notice:<br \/>We are sorry to announce that <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PolyNetwork?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PolyNetwork<\/a> was attacked on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BinanceChain?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@BinanceChain<\/a>  <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ethereum?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ethereum<\/a>  and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/0xPolygon?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@0xPolygon<\/a> Assets had been transferred to hacker&#39;s following addresses:<br \/>ETH: 0xC8a65Fadf0e0dDAf421F28FEAb69Bf6E2E589963<br \/>BSC: 0x0D6e286A7cfD25E0c01fEe9756765D8033B32C71<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Poly Network (@PolyNetwork2) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PolyNetwork2\/status\/1425073987164381196?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 10, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Poly Network, a protocol launched by the founder of Chinese blockchain project Neo, operates on the Binance Smart Chain, Ethereum, and Polygon blockchains. Meanwhile, analysis from each of the respective networks concluded the hackers <a href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/address\/0xc8a65fadf0e0ddaf421f28feab69bf6e2e589963\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">stole<\/a> roughly $273 million in Ethereum, $85 million in USD Coin (USDC) from the <a href=\"https:\/\/polygonscan.com\/address\/0x5dc3603C9D42Ff184153a8a9094a73d461663214\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Polygon network<\/a>, and $253 million from <a href=\"https:\/\/bscscan.com\/address\/0x0d6e286a7cfd25e0c01fee9756765d8033b32c71\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Binance Smart Chain<\/a>. The assets stolen included a great number of tokens including ETH, DAI, UNI, SHIB, FEI, BUSD, BTCB, ETHB, BNB, USDT, and more.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Poly Network hacked for over $600 million across Ethereum, Polygon, and BSC. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/e1mJW0gije\">https:\/\/t.co\/e1mJW0gije<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/84gmgphqAH\">https:\/\/t.co\/84gmgphqAH<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3ICgaeJgUs\">https:\/\/t.co\/3ICgaeJgUs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Poly network hasn&#39;t even verified their contracts on Ethereum so it&#39;s tedious to analyze. Here are my current thoughts \ud83e\uddf5\ud83d\udc47 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WDvMbpGVwN\">pic.twitter.com\/WDvMbpGVwN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Mudit Gupta (@Mudit__Gupta) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mudit__Gupta\/status\/1425115173778427916?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 10, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As per Poly Network&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PolyNetwork2\/status\/1425130017546149891\">tweet<\/a>,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The hacker exploited a vulnerability between contract calls, exploit was not caused by the single keeper as rumored.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Furthermore, according to China-based blockchain security firm, Slowmist,\u00a0&#8220;Combined with the flow of funds and multiple fingerprint information, it can be found that this is likely to be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chainnews.com\/news\/794796710812.htm\">long-planned, organized<\/a>, and prepared attack&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, a<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mudit__Gupta\/status\/1425115176034996224\">\u00a0tweet<\/a> by Sushiswap \u201csuper-coder\u201d Mudit Gupta, stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This was not a DeFi or smart contract hack but a traditional key compromise combined with irresponsible design decisions taken by Poly Network.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A message from the Hacker was highlighted by Wu Blockchain. It stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">HACKER: IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BILLION HACK IF I HAD MOVED REMAINING SHITCOINS! DID I JUST SAVE THE PROJECT? NOT SO INTERESTED IN MONEY, NOW CONSIDERING RETURNING SOME TOKENS OR JUST LEAVING THEM HERE <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DjnA7tkAbF\">https:\/\/t.co\/DjnA7tkAbF<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rZKOxcBFpi\">https:\/\/t.co\/rZKOxcBFpi<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/q5usAa0ojb\">pic.twitter.com\/q5usAa0ojb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Wu Blockchain (@WuBlockchain) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WuBlockchain\/status\/1425135397391110144?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 10, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In addition to this, the team behind Poly Network <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PolyNetwork2\/status\/1425123153009803267\">released<\/a> a statement addressing the hacker directly<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"zxx\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Yzw4oDenjC\">pic.twitter.com\/Yzw4oDenjC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Poly Network (@PolyNetwork2) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PolyNetwork2\/status\/1425123153009803267?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 10, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Having said that, crypto proponents within the space did offer help.
