The key catalyst for its abrupt rise to fame in recent times has been its much-anticipated upgrade Ethereum 2.0. ETH\/BTC ratio has almost<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloombergquint.com\/onweb\/a-shift-just-happened-in-the-ethereum-bitcoin-ratio\"> tripled<\/a> in the last 6 months. What does this mean for the altcoin in the long term?<\/p>\n<p>While many showcased their <a href=\"https:\/\/markets.businessinsider.com\/currencies\/news\/ethereum-upgrades-boost-ether-price-eip1559-prrof-of-stake-2021-5-1030404464\">bullish<\/a> optimism in the space, few <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/ethereums-eip-1559-does-not-deliver\/\">skeptics<\/a> weren&#8217;t shy to say otherwise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reality check<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ethereum, like other alts, suffered a major price correction. At press time, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/currencies\/ethereum\/\">trading<\/a> at the $2,334 price level; it did however witness a surge of a mere 1% in 24 hours. There\u2019s a future where the processing of these transactions can be a lot faster, and because there are so many people built on top of it now, Ethereum is going to be valuable.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When asked if he was excited about proof of stake? The CEO was quick to acknowledge this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAm I excited about proof of stake? The answer\u2019s yes. I believe that the demand for Ethereum has reached such a high level that it would be nice for either somebody to come up with an ASIC that does it, or for there to be another method&#8230; There\u2019s a lot of credibility. It works well. A lot of people depend on it for DeFi and other things. This is a great time for proof of stake to come.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While projecting a bullish sentiment about Ethereum, he further reiterated the same for the entire crypto space. He added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI believe that cryptocurrency is here to stay. It\u2019s a legitimate way that people want to exchange value.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Furthermore, he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;More important, Ethereum and other forms like it in the future are excellent distributed blockchain methods for securing transactions.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s because of this vote of confidence in this sphere, his billion-dollar company Nvidia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/cmp\/\">created a new product<\/a> called CMP.
