While the king coin seems to have bounced back in a rather short time frame and now trades around the $55k price range, the recent price drop has had a varying impact when it comes to BTC&#8217;s long-term and short-term holders.<\/p>\n<p>This put new entrants into BTC&#8217;s market in a precarious position, despite the coin&#8217;s relatively high price point. The Short Term Holder (STH) SOPR metric is now well below 1.0 and in comparison to the coin&#8217;s price action in the past quarter, this is the most significant dip since BTC&#8217;s price fell to $29k in January.<\/p>\n<p>However, in the case of the above-mentioned metric, it is important to take into consideration the fact that this metric tracks the amount of profit (&gt; 1.0) or loss (&lt; 1.0) realized by coins spent on-chain and only takes into account new entrants who are holding coins younger than 155-days.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_154462\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-154462\" style=\"width: 1600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/09_lthsopr.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-154462\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/09_lthsopr.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"898\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/09_lthsopr.png 1600w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/09_lthsopr-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/09_lthsopr-1024x575.png 1024w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/09_lthsopr-768x431.png 768w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/09_lthsopr-1536x862.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-154462\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Glassnode<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The case for Bitcoin&#8217;s long-term holders was quite different in comparison and as the market evolves and progresses through the recovery phase post-correction, favorable conditions are likely to re-emerge for both short-term and long-term investors. Glassnode pointed out that, in contrast to short-term holders, the recent price correction didn&#8217;t do much to destabilize the long-term investors. It read,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Intermittent spikes in LTH-SOPR indicate profits were realised by long term holders which can increase the liquid supply, as dormant coins are re-activated in to circulation.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the past 5 days, Bitcoin&#8217;s price has taken quite a hit with its trading price depreciating by close to 14 percent. However what was interesting to note was that in the case of long-term holders, there was no panic sell, and they seem to be holding onto their coins, which has also, in turn, arrested bearish pressure on BTC and may even help recover its losses.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_154460\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-154460\" style=\"width: 1600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/08_cdd_dormancy.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-154460\" src=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/08_cdd_dormancy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"897\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/08_cdd_dormancy.png 1600w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/08_cdd_dormancy-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/08_cdd_dormancy-1024x574.png 1024w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/08_cdd_dormancy-768x431.png 768w, https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/08_cdd_dormancy-1536x861.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-154460\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Glassnode<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Given the fact that the market is now experiencing a strong price correction, there are multiple factors that are key for traders to consider as it tends to impact long-term and short-term traders differently as highlighted above.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, taking a look at Bitcoin&#8217;s Coin Days Destroyed and Dormancy can provide greater insight into what the market is undergoing at the moment. Both metrics continue to remain within a relatively stable range that has been established since mid-January. According to Glassnode, &#8220;strong continuation to the upside may indicate older coins are starting to take profits on a more significant basis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This could also imply that if long-term holders continue to make frequent sell-offs, then BTC may see a delayed continuation of its uptrend in the coming months.
