A recent listing <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.coinbase.com\/polygon-matic-skale-network-skl-and-sushiswap-sushi-are-launching-on-coinbase-pro-460f410b3820\">announcement<\/a> may rekindle the debate. Hours after the exchange today announced support for MATIC, SKL, and SUSHI on its \u2018Pro\u2019 platform. The price of all three Ethereum-based tokens significantly appreciated today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting with Skale Network\u2019s SKL, the token surged by roughly 80% (highest among the three tokens) after Coinbase made the listing official. The token breached its own ATH of $0.65 eight hours ago and was trading at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/skale\">$0.55<\/a> at press time. The price of SKL has been up by 58.2% in the past 24 hours and 127.2% over the last two weeks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, MATIC reached an all-time high of $0.33 and increased by 46% after the listing announcement. It is now trading at $0.31 and has been up by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/polygon\">30.7%<\/a> in the past 24 hours. Interestingly. the token has been on a bullish course in the past two weeks with a price hike of 132.8% in the last 14 days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SUSHI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/sushi\">gained<\/a> 3.4% in the past 24 hours and is now worth $18.72. In terms of the Coinbase effect, the DeFi token appreciated by 46% after the announcement. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The tokens will be available in all Coinbase\u2019s supported jurisdictions, but this excludes SUSHI, which will not be supported in New York State.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Such price surges could be due to the hype around the listing, which often results from the exchange\u2019s credibility among traders. Over time, the exchange has managed to establish its platform as one of the most secure crypto exchanges, worldwide. As of 31 December 2020, Coinbase customers traded more than $456 billion on its platform since inception and stored over <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/coinbases-s-1-filing-with-the-us-sec-is-now-public\/\">$90 billion<\/a> worth of assets across the platform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, its decision to file for a <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/coinbases-s-1-filing-with-the-us-sec-is-now-public\/\">public listing<\/a> with SEC made headlines across crypto and mainstream financial markets. Thus adding to the credibility factor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perhaps the Coinbase effect as such had been waning in the past, but in the present scenario, a listing can be expected to cause affirmative price action, primarily due to hype.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, alongside the positive impact, Coinbase has often been criticized for its technical issues during bull runs. The exchange <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has sometimes gone <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/coinbase-under-pressure-failure-the-exchange-went-offline-again-as-bitcoin-spiked-10500\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">offline<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, during Bitcoin sell-offs or suffered connectivity issues.
