This would be the firm\u2019s first purchase of the crypto asset in the month of March after the publicly-traded company spent billions of dollars to acquire Bitcoin in February, this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MicroStrategy holds about<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microstrategy.com\/en\/investor-relations\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 90,859<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Bitcoins acquired for roughly $2.186 billion at an average price of $24,063 per Bitcoin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The purchase comes after MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor said the company would continue to purchase the digital currency. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This could be attributed to the fact that the company considers Bitcoin as an asset that can serve as a \u201cdependable store of value.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the time, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saylor <a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/microstrategy-buys-another-19452-bitcoins-for-1-026-billion\/\">said<\/a> in a statement:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company remains focused on our two corporate strategies of growing our enterprise analytics software business and acquiring and holding bitcoin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A day before the Bitcoin purchase on 24 February, Saylor <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/microstrategys-michael-saylor-billions-will-choose-bitcoin-for-life-savings\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">predicted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that 7-8 billion people will eventually have \u201ca bar of digital gold\u201d on their phone, which they will use to store their \u201clife savings.\u201d Saylor, also stated that people were not aware of the fact that \u201cBitcoin is egalitarian progressive technology\u201d that could outperform several tech companies. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no doubt that Saylor, a Bitcoin maximalist and hodler himself, will lead the company to acquire more Bitcoin. Reaffirming his stance on the asset Saylor even declared that \u201cthe world needs\u201d Bitcoin and expects a \u201cbillion people\u201d to use Bitcoin as <\/span><b>\u201c<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a savings account\u201d on mobile phones within five years.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At press time, BTC was trading at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/bitcoin\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$48,037.94<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and has been up 9.1% in the past 24 hours. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Business intelligence firm MicroStrategy purchased an additional 328 bitcoins for approximately $15 million.
