{"id":142740,"date":"2021-02-16T15:10:30","date_gmt":"2021-02-16T09:40:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/?p=142740"},"modified":"2021-02-16T15:09:20","modified_gmt":"2021-02-16T09:39:20","slug":"uniswap-becomes-first-dex-to-process-over-100b-in-trading-volumes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/uniswap-becomes-first-dex-to-process-over-100b-in-trading-volumes\/","title":{"rendered":"Uniswap becomes first DEX to process over $100B in trading volumes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cumulative trade volumes on Uniswap climbed to touch a milestone of $100 billion earlier today, with Uniswap becoming the first decentralized exchange (DEX) to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Hayden Adams, the DEX\u2019s founder and CEO, took to Twitter earlier today to share a tweet documenting Uniswap\u2019s growth, calling it &#8220;an exciting milestone for DeFi.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83e\udd84 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Uniswap?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Uniswap<\/a> just became the first decentralized trading platform to process over $100b in volume &#8211; an exciting milestone for DeFi \ud83d\ude80 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hUoM36aG6A\">pic.twitter.com\/hUoM36aG6A<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Hayden Adams \ud83e\udd84 (@haydenzadams) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/haydenzadams\/status\/1361356927226310668?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 15, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>With the emergence of DeFi, today\u2019s crypto-market has witnessed the rise of decentralized exchanges in a big way.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, a <a href=\"https:\/\/messari.io\/article\/dexs-threaten-centralized-exchange-dominance-as-share-of-total-volumes-exceed-5\">report<\/a> by Messari from last September found that DEXs were seriously threatening the dominance held by centralized exchanges. While monthly volume for DEXs last September was around $26 billion, January 2021 saw DEX volumes surge past $50 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Uniswap accounted for a <a href=\"https:\/\/defiprime.com\/dex-volume\">majority<\/a> of these volumes, with the platform easily the market leader among DeFi protocols facilitating decentralized trading.<\/p>\n<p>Uniswap v3 may have an even more positive impact on the DEX\u2019s trading volumes. The upgraded version of the protocol is expected to include more opportunities for liquidity mining.
