In a recent interview, the billionaire entrepreneur believed that a banana had more utility than the cryptocurrency. He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/benjaminpirus\/2020\/12\/17\/bitcoin-is-not-a-hedge-against-doomsday-scenarios-mark-cuban-says\/?sh=17e7d23e20ec\">said:<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BTC is what it is, something that enough people have agreed upon is an investable asset. A banana has more utility, potassium is a valuable nutrient to every person on the planet.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While influencers think that the asset could be a hedge against high inflation risk, Cuban said that Bitcoin was not a hedge against \u201cdoomsday scenarios.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Dallas Mavericks\u2019 owner even <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thought that the idea <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">about Bitcoin or any other crypto replacing fiat currency was counterproductive and added:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No matter how much BTC fans want to pretend that it&#8217;s a hedge against doomsday scenarios, it is not. Countries will take steps to protect their currencies and their ability to tax, so the more people believe this is anything more than a store of value, the more risk of government intervention they face.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuban had referred to Bitcoin as a collectible in 2019 and gave it <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/benjaminpirus\/2019\/12\/10\/mark-cuban-says-no-chance-for-bitcoin-to-become-a-reliable-currency\/?sh=1440011221f4\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;no chance\u201d<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of becoming a reliable currency.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In his latest interview, though, he claimed that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as long as people accepted Bitcoin \u201cas a digital version of gold,\u201d it was investable. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He further said<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It [Bitcoin] is a store of value like gold that is more religion than solution to any problem.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many have compared Bitcoin to gold with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cftc.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2019-12\/oceo_bitcoinbasics0218.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">classifying<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> BTC as a commodity, the same as gold.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Cuban, American television personality and entrepreneur, still remains unimpressed by the current Bitcoin rally.
